Film company Duke Video, who attended Cortina Day 2004, have completed their film about the Ford Cortina.
It is called "Ford Cortina - the story".
The production has been made with the collaboration of Ford, and contains archive footage, promotional videos, advertisements
and films of rallies etc.
Mark I Cortina
The programme opens with shots of the 2004 Cortina Day event, and interviews with some of the visitors. This is followed by archive film of the mark I Cortina, and it being produced at Dagenham. There then follows promotional films of the mark I, including shots of it undergoing trials at Ford's proving ground. The programme then returns to Cortina Day for interviews with mark I owners.
The Lotus Cortina is then introduced, with film of Colin Chapman's factory, showing production of the Lotus, and shots of the Lotus at Cortina Day. This is followed by rally footage of the Lotus Cortina in action.
Mark II Cortina
The programme then returns to Cortina Day to introduce the mark II Cortina and mark II Lotus Cortina. This section also includes promotional films and rally footage of the Lotus. Crayford Cortinas are briefly mentioned.
Mark III Cortina
The mark III Cortina is now introduced with archive promotional films and amusing advertisements featuring comedian, the late Dick Emery, in his various guises.
Mark IV and V Cortina
Finally the mark IV and V Cortinas are featured. Promotional film detailing the differences between the two marks is shown. There is also some footage shot at Cortina Day.
Conclusion
The programme concludes with more interviews of owners, and their cars, shot at Cortina Day. The Cortina Savage is featured, along with a mixture of other Cortina marks.
Additional features included are films of the Cortina racing at Sebring in Florida, and some more adverts for the mark III Cortina.
All-in-all Duke Video have done an excellent job of telling the story of the Ford Cortina. The production captures the charisma of the Cortina, and the spirit and atmosphere of Cortina Day.
